Examples are personal travel preference, credit card number, gender, ethnicity, family status, home address and phone number, health, etc.) This information is protected for you by privacy legislation. Unprotected information would be public information that is accessible. Examples would be your address and phone number.
We are Garner Travel International Inc./American Express. Our company provides many travel services for our clients including planning and booking leisure and corporate travel. We have implemented high technology computer database and accounting systems that restrict manipulation to unauthorized employees. We are a private company and are responsible for all the persons within our office at al times. We have firewalls installed and a private security system. Garner Travel International Inc./American Express has made a serious commitment to the confidentiality of our client’s information and continues to maintain and improve the status of our technological state to protect our clients and keep their information secure.
Garner Travel International Inc. collects personal information in order to provide a service to our clients. In order to process the request of our clients we must collect personal data such as name, address, and phone number. In addition, for accounting purpose we are required to hold credit card numbers in our system.
In addition to the collection of the data express above, we at Garner Travel collect information concerning personal preferences when traveling. For example, we ask for information regarding ideal pricing of a vacation, where you prefer to travel, when, etc…
As a travel agency we have direct connection with suppliers of air, hotels and resorts and vehicle rental companies. In order to process our client’s request we must relay our client’s personal information to the suppliers that we are required to book with. This information is protected internally by suppliers.
We do not share any of our information with clients or any other public source. Our database and accounting systems are read only for the agents and employees of Garner Travel International Inc./American Express.
In order to respect the importance of personal information we have taken the following steps to protect our data recording and storing systems.
At Garner Travel we keep all paper information for up to 10 tens. This ensures we have a complete sense of each client’s history if needed to look back upon it. Also, within our electronic systems, we never delete files but make them inactive after they are expired by 5 years. This allows us to protect information but also to maintain information for the client’s interest.
THIS POLICY IS MADE UNDER THE PERSONAL INFORMATION PROTECTION AND ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS ACT. It is a complex Act and provides some additional exceptions to the privacy principles that are too detailed to describe in our representation.
